14 Jul 2004, New Straits Times
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's ongoing community communications development programme will be extended to Kedai.Kom operators nationwide. The training programme, to last until September, is being conducted in collaboration with TIME dotCom Bhd and covers 13 Kedai.Kom operators from the northern region. "Another 20 Kedai.Kom operators have been identified from Perak, Kedah and Perlis to receive training," Mohd Hussin Ali, MCMC's head of northern region, said at the launch of Phase 2 of the programme at Teluk Rubiah Beach and Golf Resort, near Seri Manjung, on Monday. The programme provides training in personal computer assembly and aintenance, e-business and financial management to Kedai.Kom operators in the rural areas to enable them to manage their businesses more efficiently. TIME dotCom corporate communications vice-president Karimah Tan Abdullah said its involvement began in March last year when it was appointed to provide telecommunications access to areas identified by MCMC. "To date, we have helped set up the communications infrastructure to provide services to 13 Kedai.Kom outlets in Perak, Kedah and Perlis."
