Malaysia at CommunicAsia 2005

Cyberjaya, 16 May 2005 - The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will be leading a group of Malaysian IT companies at the CommunicAsia 2005 in Singapore next month. A host of IT companies from Malaysia will be participating at the Malaysian pavilion in the event. So far the participating companies include Maxis, Time, Jaring, Telekom and many other major corporations. This event will be the first time ever that Malaysia is making its presence felt at the CommunicAsia, Asia’s biggest communications and IT event. Malaysian companies taking part in the event would be given the chance to showcase their products and services to the international audience which are expected to converge during the four-day event. A crowd of over 30,000 are expected to visit the exhibition. According to Adelina Iskandar, MCMC’s Head of Corporate Communications, “It is imperative that Malaysian companies are given a platform at an international level to exhibit their products and services as this would enable them to broaden and open up their markets. CommunicAsia is also an avenue for our local companies to expand their networks and create new business opportunities.” CommunicAsia will be held from 14 June to 17 June 2005, in Singapore. The event will feature a wide spectrum of electronic communications and the most recent industry trends in broadband communications, satellite, digital lifestyle, and mobile communications, including smartcard, WIMAX and embedded technology. Adelina further added, ‘The MCMC is inviting more Malaysian IT companies to participate in the event and would provide financial support of up to 30% of space rental and booth construction for companies licensed under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. For other companies who do not hold any licenses with the MCMC, the MCMC will consider to give a subsidy of up to 20%.”
