Mobile Number Termination (On Illegal Advertisements)

20 May 2016
MCMC has been assisting the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government in its effort to curb the issue of illegal advertising in public areas by terminating the mobile numbers printed on these ads.  Illegal advertisements are under the prerogative of respective Local Authorities via the Local Government Act 1976 and Local Government by-Laws.

MCMC’s assistance is based on Section 263(2) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA 98) described on a general duty of the licensees to assist the Commission or any other authority as far as reasonably necessary in preventing the commission or attempted commission offence under any written law of Malaysia but not limited to the protection of the public revenue and preservation of national security.
